Fall Falls on Taiwan
It's that glorious time of year again in Taiwan, when the nights are cool and the days warm. It won't last long, but for now we are enjoying the fleeting fall (or autumn).
As a sub-tropical island, the weather isn't as much of a topic of conversation as in the West. It's usually either hot or cold (well cool). This makes the fall one of the best times to get out and explore La Ilha Formosa (which means "beautiful island").
And it's not just getting out into the mountains, the cooler weather also makes visiting one of the many night markets more enjoyable. Or perhaps taking a stroll around one of the more undiscovered, but nonetheless interesting areas of Taipei, which will be explored in future posts.
It's also a great time to head to the tea growing area of Maokong. Situated in the mountains of Mucha, there are numerous tea houses, where you can sit at your leisure and enjoy views from the mountain side while sipping some of the excellent local green tea.
So without ado, it's off to put away the shorts and dust off the jacket. Please check back here at the blog as I will be posting a lot more about exploring Taiwan in the fall.
