By TVA in LA Published January 01, 2008
LOS ANGELES - October 31, 2007 - Nearly 150 travel professionals throughout the greater Los Angeles area celebrated the kick off event to a new campaign at the Sheraton Delfina Hotel in Santa Monica last week. Hosted by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, "Feast of Taiwan"is a new campaign to promote interest among Northern American travelers to visit Taiwan.

Taiwanese dancers, video exhibitions of must-see sights, and the announcement of a special promotion, "I Land Paradise,"showcased Taiwan, its rich culture and appealing cuisines. Executives representing two prominent airlines with ties to Taiwan, EVA Air and China Airlines, highlighted the event with raffle prizes including ten lucky winners who won round trip tickets from LAX to Taipei.

The authentic Taiwanese cuisine from chief chef Anna Wu, owner of the Class 302 restaurant in Rowland Heights, delighted attendees and permeated the evening with her specialty shrimp won ton soup.

In light of the recent Southern California wildfire disaster, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau collected donations at the check-in table to help raise funds for the Red Cross disaster relief effort in the affected areas.

Known as the "Beautiful Island,"Taiwan is an island nation situated in East Asia. Taiwan welcomes travelers to Asia with its ultra-modern capital city of Taipei, featuring the tallest building in the world and the most authentic Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine available. Distinguished from the metropolitan appeal, Taiwan’s beautiful, unspoiled landscapes that reveal breathtaking coastal and mountain terrain, sea and river terraces, hot springs, and aboriginal cultures, continue to touch the heart.
